Lake Atitlan, Santiago, and Panajachel

Today we went with a few people to Lake Atitlan. When we got there we rode a boat over to Santiago and looked around the shops and ate lunch. Then we road the boat back to Panajachel. I love it there. A long drive but it is always worth it.

Camden and Hope Catch the Bug

The photography bug that is....
Hope took most of the pictures. The ones she didn't were taken by Camden. I did some editing, but not much. They did good. I'm proud of them. :)

These were all taken in our complex: Flowers, Dogs, Neighbors, Trampoline Tricks, and a Couple of Silliness.

A Little of the Culture

We walked through Central Park yesterday to meet up with a team of adults that are here this week for an outreach/sightseeing trip. Semana Santa was in full force. Processionals, incense, crowds, hundreds of people flocking in and out of the gorgeous Catholic church on the square, women selling their wares, men and boys dressed in their purple cloaks. Camden sat quietly watching while I wondered once again how living in this country would shape him.

The incense that you can see as the cloudy, shady parts of the pictures above and below smelled so awful. Two weeks ago when my nausea was much worse I would not have been able to handle it. I could barely handle it yesterday.

Central Park while always busy is especially busy during this week. I read another missionary from another part of Guatemala talk about how quiet and peaceful Guatemala is during Easter weekend. That's because everyone is here in Antigua!

When we met up with our team we got in 5 tuk tuks to go to our director's house. The drivers decided it was a race and the whole trip was just insanity. And the ADULTS in this team were crazier than any group of teenagers we have ever had. As one of the tuk tuks would get close to another, the men would stick their arms out and with plastic water bottles try to bonk the people in the other tuk tuk. Our vice president actually paid his driver to "win". And they did win. It was so fun, but I admit that I spent a lot of time worried about my poor little baby rattling around in my tummy.

Where Camden sits quietly and observes, here is Hope.

Vale La Pena

I submitted my last final of the semester around lunch time, texted my mom that I was done, and then stood at the glass door looking out...
